Who are the neighbours of the Port ?
Port territory covers 26 km on the Island of Montreal, so it is adjacent to several districts of the city. Our Neighbours are residents and businesses located within about 300 metres of Port territory.
More specifically, the Port extends from Bickerdike Pier, near the Bonaventure Expressway and Cité du Havre, to the Borough of Rivière-des-Prairies – Pointe-aux-Trembles. Along the way are the boroughs of Ville-Marie and Mercier – Hochelaga-Maisonneuve as well as the city of Montreal East.
Fellow Neighbours of the Port are the residents of Contrecoeur, also home to Port facilities.

The Port of Montreal has made it a priority to strengthen and maintain dialogue with its neighbours:
It is a partner on many projects led by organizations working to improve the community’s quality of life, ensure its economic development and protect its environment.
The Neighbours of the Port are kept informed about Port projects in their area. Good neighbourliness is important to the Port of Montreal, which uses all possible means to minimize any disturbance that may be caused by work needed to properly maintain its facilities.
Just like the Friends of the Port, the Neighbours of the Port receive Logbook three times a year, as well as certain special invitations.
Logbook, the e-magazine of Friends of the Port, has a section devoted to Neighbours of the Port.
Who are the Friends of the Port?
Everybody who wants to be: Montrealers, Quebecers and people from all over who take a keen interest in the Port of Montreal’s activities, and anyone who loves ships and the magnificent St. Lawrence River.
Three times a year, the Port of Montreal sends its Friends an email telling them about the latest issue of Logbook, a free e-magazine easily accessible from the Home page of the Port’s website.
The Friends of the Port also receive certain special invitations.
